Permission/Release Form

Registration Form

*JUST ADDED* In celebration of Arthur Suydam's appearance at Motor City Con, a special category has been added to this year's costume contest for the Best Zombie Super-Hero or Zombie Super-Villain Costume!  This can be ANY comic character as a Zombie...it is not limited to Marvel, so be creative!!!

Please check with the Judges in advance, for any questions on the guidelines for what you can or cannot do while on "stage" during the Costume Contest. Alienated Productions is running the Costume Contest and heading up the judging. They can be found at the following locations for questions and registration during the Con:
  • The Alienated Productions booth.
  • The Costume Contest Registration booth (next to the Alienated Productions booth).
  • The Saturday panel about the Costume Contest.
Here are some general rules that should be followed:
  • All rules of behavior stated for the Con in general apply at all times.
  • Live steel weapons can only be "unsheathed" for a contestant's "stage performance" or for photos in a designated area. Keep it safe - we don't want anyone to get hurt.
  • Presentations on stage should be two (2) minutes or less, in general.
    • Consult with the Judges in advance if you feel you have a legitimate reason to need more presentation time than that.
  • No open flames or explosive devices.
  • Please keep your costume and performance "appropriate" for a mass audience. That means nothing beyond "PG-13" please - no nudity and remember, there are kids present.
  • No course / inappropriate language.
  • We encourage you to engage the Judges and audience in your introduction/entrance or performance in a positive and entertaining way.
    • (Note: This year's guest judges will all be "super-villains"...and there will be a special light-hearted "prize" category for "best bribe" to the contestant that most excels in "pandering" to the guest judges. This is all intended to be in good spirit and entertainment for the audience...so feel free to be as creative and fun as possible!)
  • Likewise, we encourage all participants and the audience to clap, cheer, and be supportive of all contestants.
  • Costumes that have won an award at a previous Motor City Comic Con are not permitted to compete.
    • You as the winner are not ineligible; only the winning costume.
    • Please join us with another entry or if you wish, enthrall the audience again with your costume as a Showpiece.
    • Even if your costume did win a minor award at a previous Motor City Comic Con, we would like to see you in something new.
  • No professional costumers can compete for prizes - for amateurs only.
    • No 501st / Rebel Legion / etc members eligible in Saturday's contest.
    • Non-"professional" Star Wars costumers welcome to compete on Sat.
  • Most importantly, HAVE FUN!!!

Alienated Productions / Costume Contest Q&A:

Every year, the Motor City Comic Con Costume Contest gets bigger and better and this year's event promises to be more spectacular than ever, with TWO separate contests - the "traditional" Costume Contest hosted by Alienated Productions at 3:00pm on Saturday as well as a special "Star Wars"-themed contest hosted by The 501st Legion at 1:30pm on Sunday!!!

Due to the ever growing popularity of this event, we've made some changes this year to improve the Costume Contest for both participants and fans alike. Whether you are here to participate in the Contest, just plan to attend or are just curious about Costuming, come attend this panel to get all your questions answered, meet many of the Guest Judges and learn about the new event location, rules, categories and prizes in store!

Hosted by Gary J. Herrmann and Scott Crawford of Alienated Productions, this panel will cover everything you need and want to know about this year's Costume Contests and address all your questions.

Alienated Productions and other panelists will also discuss their past costuming adventures at events, in print and on the small and large screen, as well as exciting upcoming projects that will be announced publicly at this show for the first time!

Panelists include: Amanda L. Herrmann, David Lanning, Jon Michael McCarron, as well as representation from The 501st Legion and possibly some surprise "Guest Judges" as well!
